What we do
Six programs, one same root
Each line of work is born from the needs of the communities and grows stronger through the exchange between Latin America and Equatorial Guinea.
Culture
We document intangible heritage, foster artist residencies and produce gatherings where African and Latin American heritage come into dialogue: percussion, oral tradition, dance, gastronomy and textiles. Culture is the visible root that identifies us as a single community spread across two continents.
Goals
- Record and digitize oral and musical traditions at risk.
- Create exchange residencies between artists from Equatorial Guinea and Latin America.
- Produce festivals and travelling exhibitions of shared heritage.
Youth
We build youth leadership with an intercultural perspective through mentoring, scholarships, social innovation labs and exchange networks. We believe that Afro-Hispanic youth are the bridge that will sustain the shared future of both regions.
Goals
- Mentoring and scholarships for emerging young leaders.
- Social innovation and cultural entrepreneurship labs.
- A transatlantic network of young roots ambassadors.
Education
We support schools, community libraries and digital literacy programs. We design materials that recognize Afro-descendant and Equatoguinean history, strengthening cultural self-esteem and access to knowledge as a right.
Goals
- Equip community libraries and classrooms with intercultural materials.
- Train teachers in culturally relevant pedagogies.
- Expand digital literacy in rural areas.
Environment
We promote reforestation with native species —such as the ceiba, the tree that symbolizes our identity—, regenerative agriculture and community water management. We bring together science and ancestral knowledge to sustain ecosystems and livelihoods.
Goals
- Reforest with native species and protect the ceiba as a living symbol.
- Promote community-led regenerative agriculture.
- Strengthen community management of water and forests.
Cooperation
We articulate South-South cooperation between actors in Latin America and Equatorial Guinea: knowledge transfer, joint projects and institutional strengthening. Cooperation turns shared roots into concrete and sustainable results.
Goals
- Facilitate South-South cooperation and knowledge transfer.
- Strengthen the capacities of local organizations.
- Mobilize resources towards high-impact community projects.
Roots Tourism
We create community and memorial tourism experiences that honour the transatlantic route: encounters with communities, historical heritage and nature. A form of tourism that generates local income, dignifies history and rebuilds family and cultural ties.
Goals
- Design community and memory tourism routes.
- Train host communities in sustainable hospitality.
- Connect the diaspora with their territories of origin.
