The meaning of the ceiba
In many cultures across Africa and the Americas, the ceiba is a sacred tree: a meeting place, a symbol of protection and community memory. That is why it lies at the heart of our identity and our emblem.
Its roots, visible above the ground, represent the ties that unite those who share a common origin even though an ocean separates them. Its wide canopy reminds us that the future must give shade and shelter to everyone.
To embrace the ceiba is to recognize that our histories are intertwined and that caring for the root is also sowing the future.
